Christmas
We try to celebrate the festive season in a variety of ways offering young and old the chance to reflect on the real meaning of Christmas.
At our Christmas Café we served coffee and mince pies and offered craft activities for children and beautiful hand-made wreathes to purchase.
Our Family Nativity Service on the Sunday before Christmas consisted of traditional carols and the children of the church acting out the first Christmas story. Chaotic it may have been but still special for regulars and visitors alike! The whole thing ends up with tea for the children and mince pies for the adults.
Acton Green's Community Carol Service took place on the Wednesday before Christmas. This is a candlelit event included favourite carols and local actors and musicians taking part. The mulled wine went down well!
On Christmas Day we corporately celebrated the birth of Christ at an All-Age Service where traditional carols were sung and communion was offered.
Each year we collect a number of shoeboxes packed with small gifts to be given to children around the world who wouldn't otherwise receive a present at Christmas. This is organised through Operation Christmas Child whose website can be accessed here.
